Dr. Nerva is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who serves as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Co-Director of Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. John was raised in Osseo, Minnesota and earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Minnesota. He completed neurosurgery residency at the University of Washington and fellowships in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery at Macquarie Neurosurgery in Sydney, Australia and the University of Florida respectively. He has interests in all areas of neurosurgery and specializes in cerebrovascular disease and stroke. His research interests include endovascular technology, vascular neurosurgery and the clinical outcomes of neurosurgical patients, and he is widely published in these fields.
